INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Franklin College junior runner Clayton Brumfield collected his first career HCAC Runner of the Week award on Tuesday (Oct. 16) afternoon following a career-defining day last weekend.

The Greenfield, Ind.-native shattered his previous personal best time in the 8K race at last weekend's Jenna Strong Fall Classic. Brumfield bested his previous PR by 38 seconds on his way to a 22nd-place finish and a time of 25:50.0. He was the lead runner among all HCAC competitors at the event and placed fifth among all Division III harriers at the event.

Additionally, Brumfield moved up on the program's list of fastest 8K times, vaulting all the way up to sixth overall. Franklin finished 16th out of 34 teams at last weekend's event.

Clayton and the rest of the Grizzly cross country teams are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 27, when they take part in the HCAC Championships at Blue River Park in Shelbyville, Ind.
