GREENWOOD, Ind. – Nine members of the Franklin College track and field teams were named All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) on Thursday afternoon
The Grizzlies had one first team member, one second team nominee and five honorable mention selections. Those seven were joined by one man and one woman on the HCAC Sportsmanship Team list.
Sophomore Clayton Brumfield collected his third career First Team All-HCAC selection after winning the 1,500-meter run. Brumfield topped the field with a time of 4:03.74, setting a new personal best mark.
Senior Nathan Adams captured Second Team honors after another strong showing in the hammer throw. Adams finished second in the event with a toss of 54.74 meters, giving him a pair of second team selections in 2018 alone to go along with his second-place finish in the weight throw at the indoor championships.
Senior Nick Uhl hit the podium and earned a spot on the Honorable Mention team with a third-place finish in the javelin with a personal best throw of 51.37 meters. The Grizzly women placed their entire 4x100-meter relay team on the Honorable Mention squad after Morgan Clarke, Kelsey Bowling, Sarah Miller and Emily Walker took third in that event with a time of 50.97 seconds. Clarke earned a podium finish individually, taking third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.31 seconds.
Sophomore Jayla Callens was the women's representative on the conference's All-Sportsmanship Team. Callens earned a fifth-place finish in the finals of the 800-meter run (2:27.81). The men's team was represented by senior Coy Flynn, who competed in the men's 4x100-meter relay, the long jump and the 100-meter dash.
