DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Franklin men's tennis team packed up shop and headed east on Saturday (Apr. 6), resuming Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play with a match against the Defiance Yellow Jackets.

The Grizzlies (5-6, 2-0 HCAC) picked up their third straight win this spring, blanking the Yellow Jackets (2-9, 0-4 HCAC) 9-0 for their second straight sweep of a league opponent.

Franklin dominated the three doubles matches, getting dualing 8-2 wins from top doubles team Blake Amonett and Alexander Pollard, as well as the second pairing of Jacob Zachary and Zach Lester. Ty McCory and Josh Stewart teamed up at the No. 3 spot, picking up an 8-3 win.

The other five singles competitors would have less trouble, taking the remaining five points in straight sets.

Dean Elrod earned a 6-3, 6-1 win in a meeting of the No. 4 singles players. Josh Stewart and Matt Leming rounded out the lineup with identical 6-0, 6-1 wins from the five and six spots.

Franklin looks to keep their perfect conference record intact on Sunday (Apr. 7), when they meet Manchester University at the Indiana Racquet Club East in Indianapolis, Ind. First serve is set for noon.
