FRANKLIN, Ind. – For the first time in the fall, the Franklin men's tennis team stepped onto their home court for a Tuesday (Sept. 18) afternoon showdown with Trine University.
The Grizzlies (1-1) dropped a hard-fought battle to the Thunder (3-1), falling by a 6-3 score. Trine got the early jump by taking two of the three doubles points available. Franklin got on the board with a 9-7 win by Alexander Pollard and Matt Stone at No. 2 doubles play.
Stone earned his second point of the day with a three-set win over Evan Trusty at No. 5 singles, rallying from a set down for a 4-6, 6-2, 10-4 victory. Blake Amonett was a 6-4, 6-1 winner at No. 1 singles, but the rest of the singles points went the way of the visitors.
Franklin continues their brief fall schedule on Sunday (Sept. 23), when they travel north for a meeting with the Spartans of Manchester University. First serve is set for 1:00 p.m.
