RECAP | Grizzlies Drop Non-Conference Meeting to Principia

ELSAH, Ill. – The Franklin College men's tennis team took to the court on Saturday (Mar. 10) afternoon, taking on Principia College at the Hexberg Tennis Center.

The Grizzlies (3-6) ran into another strong team on Saturday afternoon, falling to Principia 9-0. The Panthers rolled through doubles play to take an early 3-0 lead.

Three Grizzlies would put up a fight in singles play before ultimately falling to their competition. Senior Alex Hammer pushed Wyatt Dale to the limit at the No. 1 singles spot before suffering a 7-5, 6-2 loss. Jacob Zachary also put up a strong fight at the No. 5 singles spot before dropping a 6-4, 6-4 decision. Dean Elrod pushed Dan Wagstaff to three sets before coming up short, 6-7 (2-7), 6-3, 10-3.

The Grizzlies will be back in action on Saturday, Mar. 17, when they take on Thomas More at the Mickel-Hoover Tennis Complex in their spring home debut. First serve is set for 1:00 p.m.
