Terre Haute, Ind. - The Franklin College men's tennis team lost to co-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) leader Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology 7-2 on Sunday. The Grizzlies stand 2-4 on the season and is 1-2 in league play.
Juniors Luke Snyder (Franklin, Ind./Franklin Community) and Jared Hunt (New Whiteland, Ind./Whiteland Community) teamed to win a tiebreaker 7-4 at the No. 2 doubles position. Rose-Hulman (5-4, 5-0 HCAC) held a 2-1 advantage after doubles with victories on the first and third courts.
Junior Robby Woehrle (Avon, Ind./Avon) earned a straight-set victory at No. 5 singles to round out the winners for the Grizzlies. Junior Evan Pierle (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) dropped a hard-fought match at No. 4 singles by 6-3, 7-6 (2) scores.
Franklin returns to action on Wednesday, April 9 at 3 p.m. when it hosts Central State University (Ohio) at the Mickel-Hoover Tennis Complex. The contest will be the team's first home match of the spring season.
