INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Three members of the Franklin swimming and diving teams collected player of the week accolades when the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) announced its weekly winners on Tuesday (Nov. 20) morning.
Sophomore Noah Tallman earned the first HCAC Swimmer of the Week award of his career while Will Combs and Lexi Blackburn repeated as HCAC Divers of the Week for the fifth consecutive week. Franklin stayed perfect in dual competition last week with wins over Hanover, Transylvania and Thomas More in a home quad meet.
Bargersville, Ind.-native Tallman picked up two event wins on Saturday and was a part of one winning relay. He started off his day with a win in the 200 free (1:49.27) before topping the field in the 500 free (4:59.55) later in the day. Tallman finished his day by swimming the second leg of Franklin's 200 free relay that saw the Grizzlies win by nearly four seconds in 1:30.37.
Combs claimed diver of the week award with two more wins on the boards on Saturday. The senior and Indianapolis, Ind.-native earned 255.20 points on the three-meter board and 400.05 points on the one-meter board. Blackburn replicated that same success on the three-meter board, picking up 244.10 points to help extend the Grizzly women's team's unbeaten streak in dual action to 20 straight.
Both teams are off for a week before heading to Lexington, Ky. on Dec. 1-2 for the Transylvania Invitational, held on the campus of the University of Kentucky.
