Men's Soccer Players Participate in 'Make Your Own Ball Night' Program

Columbus, Ind. - The Franklin College men's soccer team joined the Columbus Express under-12 boys soccer team to participate in 'Make Your Own Ball Night' on Thursday, September 18.

The evening consisted of making soccer balls out of plastic bags, duct tape, garbage bags, and any other materials the boys could gather in order to show them how unprivileged youth who don't have the means to play with soccer balls make them out of anything they can find.

A group of 12 Franklin players practiced with the Express for the first hour of its training session and then assisted the boys in making their soccer balls.

"We are helping make soccer balls out of different materials to teach them how people who can't have a ball can always make one," said senior Brandon Iaria. "It's fun, creative, and teaches the boys that there is never a moment to not play soccer no matter what you have."
