RECAP | Men's Golf Sits in Fifth Place After Day One of the HCAC Championships

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Day one of the 2019 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Championship got underway on Saturday (Apr. 27) morning, with the Franklin men's golf team joining nine other programs at the University Club of Lexington.

Through 18 holes, the Grizzlies sit in fifth place following a day one score of 314. Leading the way for the Grizzlies was senior Jacob Hash, who sits tied for 11th overall following a four-over 76 in the opening round. One shot back of Hash in a tie for 13th place is sophomore RJ Turner after his day one 77.

Junior Jackson Williams ended the day tied for 15th place with a 78. Junior Aubrey Seaman is tied for 28th following an 83 and freshman Alan Showalter holds a share of 36th place after an 85.

Defending champion Transylvania leads the event by seven shots over Earlham College after a day one 295. Earlham's Garrett Schuler is the individual leader, shooting a three-under 69 to take a two-shot lead into round two.

The second round of the league championships gets underway on Sunday (Apr. 28) morning. The first tee time will be announced later.
