Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College men's golf team stands in fifth place after Sunday's opening round of the Dick Park Invitational at The Legends Golf Club. The Grizzlies trail second place Defiance College by four strokes.
Franklin carded a 331 team score on a blustery Sunday afternoon. Wind gusts reached 25 miles per hour on the par 72, 6,831-yard layout.
Senior Joshua Rhoads (Batesville, Ind./Batesville) led the team with a 79-stroke score and stands tied for fourth place individually. Classmate Chris Arnold (Quincy, Ind./Cloverdale) recorded an 82 score during the opening round. Sophomore Jake Knue (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville) also shot an 82-stroke score on Sunday. Arnold and Knue both stand in a 12th-place tie.
The College of Mount St. Joseph leads with a 320 team score. Defiance stands in second place with a 327 score. Following are Wabash College (328) and Hanover College (330).
Monday's final round will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
