FRANKLIN, Ind. – Franklin College head men's basketball coach Kerry Prather has announced the addition of two new coaches to the Grizzlies' staff, with Aaron Larson and Antoine Carpenter set to join the FC bench for the 2018-19 season.
"It has always been our goal to have a coaching staff with a good balance of expertise and experience, and a common priority of meeting the needs of our players first and foremost," Prather said. "I am confident Coach Larson and Coach Carpenter will add to the great work of Coach Lebowitz and Coach Kinder, and I am excited about the chemistry this staff will enjoy."
Larson (left) comes to Franklin from Olivet Nazarene University, where he was a standout on the court before transitioning to a coaching role. Larson was a key member of a Tigers team that qualified for the NAIA Division II national championship in both 2015 and 2016, finishing his career as the program's third leading scorer with 2,132 points.
He was named CCAC Freshman of the Year in 2013 and was named First Team All-CCAC each of his final three years of competition. Additionally, Larson was a 2016 NAIA Second Team All-America, a Third Team All-America selection in 2015 and an All-America honorable mention in 2014.
After graduating with a degree in sports management, Larson transitioned into a graduate assistant role with the ONU women's program while pursuing his MBA.
Back for his second stint on the Franklin bench is Antoine Carpenter (left), who was on Prather's staff from 2003-05. After working with the Grizzlies for two years, Carpenter returned to his alma mater of Wabash College, working as an assistant coach from 2007-11 before being promoted to head coach where he would serve from 2011-14.
