Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College men's basketball team hits the road for a key Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) contest at Manchester University on Wednesday, January 29 at 7:30 p.m. in North Manchester, Indiana.
The Grizzlies are in a three-way tie for fifth place with a 4-6 league record. Overall, the team is 7-10 on the season is looking to bounce back from last Saturday's road loss at the College of Mount St. Joseph.
Franklin will look to split the season series between the league rivals after Manchester won 67-65 on January 9 in the Spurlock Center.
Senior Bailey Howard (Nashville, Ind./Brown County) ranks second in the HCAC in scoring at 21.5 points per game. The guard is making 48 percent of his three-point field goal attempts this season. He missed the first contest against the Spartans while recovering from an injury.
Sophomore Dion Smith (Indianapolis, Ind./Franklin Central) is averaging 12.6 points per contest. He leads the team in rebounding (5.6 rpg), steals (24) and blocks (27).
Sophomore Trae Washington (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington South) leads the team with 64 assists. He is averaging 9.4 points per game.
Manchester enters the game on a two-game winning streak. The Spartans won at Bluffton University 68-67 last Wednesday before defeating Earlham College 83-59 last Saturday. The team is 4-13 on the season and 3-7 in HCAC play. Jon Thompson leads the team's offensive attack at 20.4 points per game in his seven games this season. He scored 30 points in the first meeting with Franklin. Brady Dolezal is averaging 16.5 points per game and is this week's HCAC Player of the Week.
