CARMEL, Ind. – After spending much of last Saturday in the Defiance backfield, Franklin College senior defensive end Brady Hale was named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference's (HCAC) Defensive Player of the Week on Monday (Oct. 28) afternoon.

The Mooresville, Ind.-native set a season-high with six tackles on Saturday against the Yellow Jackets, causing havoc for the Defiance offense on a rain-soaked afternoon. Of those six tackles, 3.5 went for a loss and he recorded one sack but his biggest contribution came in the form of three forced fumbles, two of which set up Franklin touchdown drives.

He currently has 30 tackles on the year and is tied with twin brother Bryce Hale for most sacks on the team with three. Brady also sits tied for second on the team with nine stops for a loss, totaling 32 lost yards for opposing offensive players. Brady becomes the first Grizzly to earn the league's weekly defensive honor since 2018, when Austin Fleming captured the award.

Franklin is off this week and resumes their season on Nov. 9, when they head to Bluffton, Ohio to take on the Bluffton Beavers for the second time this season. Kick-off is set for 1:30 p.m.
