FRANKLIN, Ind. – Senior guard Matthew Anderson was named a pre-season Third Team All-American by D3football.com on Thursday (Aug. 18) afternoon.
The Indianapolis, Ind.-native was a stalwart at guard for the Grizzlies a year ago, starting all 10 games while allowing just one sack. A 2018 HCAC First Team selection, Anderson played a major role for a Franklin offense that led Division III in yards per game with 558.3.
Anderson becomes the seventh player in program history to be named to one of D3football.com's pre-season All-American teams. Former quarterback Chase Burton was the last Grizzly to earn the honor, picking up second team honors back in 2017.
Franklin opens the 2019 campaign on Saturday, Sept. 7 at Benedictine College. Kick-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
