INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Franklin College freshman Jake Campbell was named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday (Oct. 22) afternoon, picking up the weekly conference award for the first time in his career.
The Grizzly kick-off specialist totaled 560 yards on 10 kick-offs on Saturday against Earlham, adding four touchbacks in the Grizzlies' 64-20 win over the Quakers. Additionally, the freshman defensive lineman accumulated three tackles on the afternoon.
The Cincinnati, Ohio-native is averaging 57.6 yards per kick-off and has recorded 11 touchbacks on the year since taking over as the team's primary specialist.
Campbell becomes the first Grizzly to earn Special Teams Player of the Week since Stephen Colligan collected the award on Nov. 6, 2017. Jake and the Grizzlies are on the road on Saturday (Oct. 27) to take on Manchester University in their final road game of the regular season. Kick-off is set for 1:30 p.m.
