JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Franklin College senior quarterback Chase Burton collected his second All-American honor of the week on Thursday afternoon, earning a spot on the 2017 Associated Press Little All-America Division III Second Team.
Fresh off of an AFCA First Team All-America selection earlier this week, Burton added to his personal trophy case with his first selection to the Associated Press' list.
The 2017 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Offensive Player of the Year threw for 3,916 yards, 43 touchdowns and just five interceptions as Franklin returned to the playoffs after winning another HCAC title in 2017. The Grizzlies finished the year 8-3, going a perfect 8-0 in conference play.
In addition to being named First Team All-America by the nation's coaches, Burton was named the All-North Region Offensive Player of the Year by D3Football.com. Currently the Division III leader in passing yards and touchdowns, Burton spear-headed an offense that lead Division III in yards per game (564.5) and passing yards per game (407.1).
It was a record-setting final year in the blue and gold for Burton, as he shattered two program records. Burton passed Jonny West for the most passing yards (11,579) and passing touchdowns (121) in program history.
