INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the first time in 2019 and for the second time in his career, Franklin's Ryan Bixler has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Player of the Week.

The junior outfielder from Logansport, Ind. had a career-best day last Tuesday against Rose-Hulman, homering three times and driving in nine runs in a 19-8 game one win over the league-leading and then-conference unbeaten Engineers.

With the Grizzlies staring at a one-run deficit in the top of the seventh, Bixler crushed a grand slam over the wall in left field to put the Grizzlies ahead for good. Later in the same inning, he smacked a three-run blast and in the eighth inning, added a two-run shot to finish a solo homer away from the illusive home run cycle.

Bixler batted .333 last week and scored four times total while recording a perfect fielding percentage out in right field. It marks almost a year to the day he earned his first career conference player of the week award, which was on Apr. 23, 2018.
