FRANKLIN, Ind. (April 18, 2017) – The Franklin College baseball team suffered a 19-11 home loss Tuesday afternoon against Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
The visiting Engineers broke a 1-1 tie after two innings with seven runs in the third inning and eight in the fourth for a commanding 16-1 lead.
Although the Grizzlies would pick up 10 more runs the rest of the way, it was not enough to overcome Rose-Hulman's early advantage.
First baseman Nick Wright had a big day for the Grizzlies, going 2 for 6 at the plate with five RBIs and two runs scored. Both of his hits were home run. Shortstop Sam Claycamp was 1 for 4 at with three RBIs and one run.
With the loss, the Grizzlies slip to 17-12 overall and 9-7 in the HCAC.
Franklin returns to action Friday for the first of a three-game series at HCAC opponent Bluffton. Game time is 4:15 p.m. The teams play a doubleheader on Saturday, with game times at noon and 3 p.m.
