FRANKLIN, Ind. (March 4, 2017) – The Franklin College baseball swept a doubleheader Saturday afternoon against visiting Albion.
In Game 1, Franklin survived a late Albion rally for a 10-9 win.
Catcher Alex Mis led an 11-hit Grizzlies' attack, going 2 for 5 at the plate, including a home run. He also had a game-high four RBIs.
Shortstop Sam Claycamp produced what proved to be the game-winning play, a solo homer in the bottom of the seventh that helped the Grizzlies' survive a four-run eighth inning by Albion.
Pitcher Aaron Fleming worked five innings and picked up the win for Franklin.
In Game 2, the Grizzlies won in much the same fashion as Game 1. They led 7-1 after four innings, then survived a late Albion rally for a 7-5 victory.
Albion (1-2) scored four runs in the top of the eighth inning, but it wasn't enough to overtake the Grizzlies (4-3).
Left fielder Nick Wright and first baseman Drew Naumovich led a 10-hit attack for Franklin. Wright was 2 of 4, including a double, with three RBIs. Naumovich was 3 for 4, including two doubles, and two RBIs.
Pitcher Mitch Caster worked 6.2 innings in picking up the win. He improved to 2-0 on the season.
Franklin's returns to action March 11-12 for a three-game series at Wilmington College. The teams play a doubleheader on March 11 and a single game on March 12.
