Baseball Team Stumbles in Opener

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (Feb. 25, 2017) – The Franklin College baseball team lost its season-opener Saturday afternoon, falling 16-0 against Otterbein University.

The game was the first of a four-game trip for the Grizzlies in Winter Haven, Florida.

Otterbein (2-0), the defending Ohio Athletic Conference regular season champion, broke a scoreless tie with six runs in the top of the second inning to take control of the game.

For Franklin (0-1), junior third baseman Frank Podkul and freshman left fielder Nick Wright combined for four of the Grizzlies' seven hits. Podkul was 2 of 3 at the plate, including a double. Wright went 2 for 4.

Franklin returns to action at 11 a.m. Sunday against Waynesburg.
