Lexington, Ky. - The Franklin College baseball team moved into fourth place in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) standings by winning its third road league series of the season on Saturday. The Grizzlies split a doubleheader at Transylvania University, winning the opener 13-7 and losing the second game 5-2.

A run-scoring single by freshman Cody Shipley (Kokomo, Ind./Kokomo) got the scoring started in the first inning by plating junior Jameson Brock (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville). Later, junior Mitch Frey (Kokomo, Ind./Kokomo) drove in senior Scott Windler (Lafayette, Ind./Lafayette Central Catholic) and Shipley for a quick 3-0 advantage.

Transylvania (15-16, 9-8 HCAC) cut the deficit to 10-5 after scoring three runs in the second and plating two more runs in the fifth inning.
Franklin's lead was trimmed to 11-7 following a two-run seventh inning. However, the visitors quickly responded by scoring two runs in the top of the eighth inning. DeJesus plated sophomore Joe Ardizzone (Indianapolis, Ind./Ardizzone) with a single. Sophomore Braden Pelley (Columbus, Ind./Columbus North) later scored on a base hit from Brock.
