GREENWOOD, Ind. – A pair of Franklin College seniors captured weekly awards from the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) on Monday afternoon.
Third baseman Alexis Tarver claimed her first HCAC Softball Player of the Week award while thrower Nathan Adams claimed his first HCAC Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week award following a record-breaking performance last weekend.
Adams took the top spot in his signature event, the hammer throw, at Saturday's DePauw Invitational. The Indianapolis-native took first place with a toss of 54.68 meters, shattering his own previous program record and vaulting to 12th in Division III in the event.
Tarver led the Grizzlies with a .455 average (5-for-11) last week. The senior third baseman belted two home runs and recorded six RBI with three runs scored and five walks drawn as Franklin went 3-1 against a pair of conference foes. Tarver started off the week by reaching base in 7-of-8 plate appearances on Thursday against Rose-Hulman, homering in each game and drawing four walks as the Grizzlies swept the Engineers.
