Franklin College Announces New Sports Information Director

FRANKLIN, Ind. (June 16)  – Franklin College director of athletics Kerry Prather has announced the appointment of Ryan Thomas as the school's new Sports Information Director. A 2008 graduate of Western Illinois University, Thomas brings a wealth of experience to the position.

Most recently the Assistant Sports Information Director at the University of Indianapolis, he was formerly the Sports Information Director at Ashford University and also has served in communications for the Indiana Sports Corporation.

"Ryan comes to Franklin well prepared to coordinate the promotion of our 21 men's and women's sports teams," Prather said. "He has gained valuable experience in all facets of SID work, and I am confident he will be successful as our point person for athletic communications."

 Thomas, who received a Master's of Science in Sport Management from Western Illinois in 2011, began his career as a communications intern for the Indiana Sports Corporation in 2011. Later that year, he moved onto Ashford University, where he served as Assistant Sports Information Director (2011-2013) and later as Sports Information Director (2013-2015).

In August of 2015, Thomas joined the University of Indianapolis as Assistant Sports Information director, serving as the primary contact for the NCAA Division II school's women's basketball, baseball and men's and women's soccer teams.

Thomas, who brings writing, broadcasting, editing and social media skills to his new position at Franklin College, looks forward to getting started. He begins July 10.

I'm ready to come in and tell the story of our student-athletes and all of our athletic programs here at Franklin."
